The short abstract (for all the lazy readers out there)?
How the potential for peace was lived around countries in Autumn 1918.
Why this book? Because it is always common to read about “after” something- but the feelings during something are forgotten…
And now that everyday we are overloaded with positive predictions on the side effect of an election, maybe reading what was felt for another topical event that did not necessarily produce the desired results could help to see things in the right perspective
And see that the hard work is ahead, not behind… So, been patient is a virtue that hopefully will be appreciated again..

… I suggest reading a 10 year old book
“At The Eleventh Hour”, by Hugh Cecil and Peter H Liddle
At Eleventh Hour. Reflections, Anxieties
