hot chocolate recipe

go at the bottom if you are only interested in the chocolate recipe :D

today is going to be an administration/negotiation & meeting day

the first part is boring, but once in a while you have to write to superficial suppliers’ letters with a detailed reply

the second part is most often annoying- I wonder/interesna ;-) why often people go to a meeting where they have to deliver a presentation… superficially prepared

a quick test- smash the computer (well, remove the plug- it is enough), and start talking instead of showing powerpoint slides; then, answer questions: if you can do it, you are ready to do it; if not- you are a good candidate for one of my standard meetings :D

and the hot chocolate in the title?

well- chocolate lifts your spirit: good chocolate, I mean

in Winter, I enjoy a hot chocolate

and I wonder why, here in Brussels, where you can find good chocolate powder… everywhere hot chocolate is just hot milk with *some* chocolate powder (or nesquik- sigh :-( )

so, let me indulge to get a kick-start in my boring day :-)

this is my recipe, assuming hot chocolate for two (of course!)

7 large spoons of dark, unsweetened chocolate powder
2 (or 3- depends on the density you want to achieve) large spoons of 00 white flour
a small boiling pan (about 20cm in diameter)
sugar (as much as you want- I prefer next to none :D )
milk (whole milk, preferably bio milk that tastes like milk :@), about .4 liters
one or two slices of lemon peel (the skin of a lemon)

mix the chocolate powder and flour until they cannot be separated and there are no “lumps” left

put the resulting powder inside the pan, and add as much milk as needed to cover it- but not more

start boiling, while stirring with a spoon to avoid lumps

when it starts being piping hot, add the lemon peel, and keep stirring for one or two minutes, while also adding the sugar (if you want- but I prefer it to be dark and sour, so that the taste of chocolate is still there)

remove from the fire, and immediately put into the two cups (if you leave it behind and cool down… you will get a chocolate solid pudding ;-) )

it is better than a coffee, and gives you a kick

why the flour? density
why the lemon (or orange) peel? flavour & increased density

if you want, add spices (from cinnamon, to pepper- you name it)

enjoy!

ok- my chocolate break is gone- back to administration :-)

have a nice day
