Crazy writing experiments… and modeling human behavior

[this post has been first published on draugiem.lv]

It is not just my Frype/Draugiem friends that complain that my writings are too long :D

So, as I had promised to share something about building models, forecasting what people would do, and so on, I split it into segment, that will magically appear from tomorrow until the 25th

It all started for one simple reason: I have always had good “crystal ball” skills (when you are able to guess what somebody is going to do before they even think about doing it).

I do not know. Maybe is due to my childhood spent reviewing the scripts while my father was studying before acting.

I always spotted when something in the script did not work- like, when a role suddenly did something that would have been impossible for somebody with the “persona” that was all across the script.

Like in a book: how often writers (also famous ones) are probably so bored and tired with their writing, that to complete the book it looks as if they created something unusual just to get over with it and move on :D

But it is useful in life as well as in business: when people pretend to be what they are not, usually it takes only some time spent together (minutes, for the worst, hours, for the best) to “profile” them.

The secret? Read. A lot. But, please, read the classics. Like Greek theatre and so on.

Why? Because technology changed, but what makes human beings “tick: did not.

So, instead of reading Stephen Covey and other “cliff note writers”, read the source. Not for the story in itself, but for the interaction of people with people.

Ciiff notes? My American friends know what I mean; for Italians it would be “Bignami”; for others, I do not know; it is the lazy student way to pretend to have read and analyzed something that he did not even open :D

The only issue? After you spend some time with well-defined roles, you will find unbearable reading 900-pages novels where the main role switches every few chapters (probably: the ghost-writers enrolled to write the different chapters did not read all the material on how the role should be built :D ).

And if you are interested in my crazy idea about “modeling human behavior, read on my blog, on GettingAroundTheWorld.Net: GMN2009-Genome,mind mapping, neural networksj, on planning and modeling 2009-05-05/25

it is theoretically business, but actually with the usual jokes about myself, my past, and something that could be useful also outside business
:)
