A full month? April, 2010

Google and kinetic energy

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Well, I am late.
I was supposed to post this article on April 1st (yes, it is almost a joke).
Then, last week-end- but then I found more appropriate to post something else.
Few (hundreds of) words about the title
I wrote few articles about Google (use the “search” button on the cover of this blog).
Why?
Because Google, along with [...]

25 aprile 2011

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

No, it is not a mistake- and yes, the title is in Italian.

Why in Italian? Because April 25th used to be a national holiday, and as I hold an Italian passport…

April 25th 1945 was the day when WWII officially ended in Italy, unifying again the country that had been split since September 1943.

This short commentary, in Italian, is set one year from now.

Cultural Sustainability & new media

Monday, April 19th, 2010

This article is not about science or technology (albeit there will be some references).

It is about cultural heritage- and its transmission.

Trying to use our technology to move beyond the mere literacy or numeracy, and adding instead cultural awareness.

While preserving our cultural diversity for future generations.

Common Agricultural Policy and sustainable development

Friday, April 16th, 2010

This article is just a commentary and a proposal- my five cents, as some American friends would say.
Why now? For three main reasons.
First, because this morning, while walking in Avenue de la Loi, I noticed the banner inviting citizens to submit proposals for the evolution of the CAP
Second, as this brought back to mind some [...]

Re-inventing Europe

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

This article has been flowing around in bits and pieces since September 2009, when I started to summarize some ideas.

Over the last seven months, the European Union (EU) was often on the first page worldwide on a daily basis- and I think that most of its citizens for the first time started talking about the EU as if it were a real state.

Greece, military interventions and disengagements, keeping the foreign investors happy, relaunching the economy, adding few member states, deciding who is going to represent the EU abroad, letting EU citizens propose EU laws- just few of the issues of two busy quarters.

But each article needs a purpose- and the one shown in the title is more appropriate for a book.

Therefore, this article is just a modest contribution of few ideas and observations- submitted to peer review: from a citizen to other citizens.
