In between the “awareness” activities on energy security and development sustainability, there are also real research and development activities going on, ranging from new products/services, to the redesign of supply chains, production processes, and, of course, products.
Everybody read about biofuels in the US and their effect on the agricultural business- but few instead consider the example of Brazil, aiming to achieve complete energy independence with a blend of technologies.

Well, being a week-end, I was undecided: should I post a serious post with some not-so-serious content, or the other way around?
I decided that I would rather split between the non-serious part (on draugiem.lv and on facebook.com, under the title “Assetto di volo”) and the serious one here (both on robertolofaro.com/blog and gettingaroundtheworldnet.wordpress.com)

This article has been in an eternal “draft” state since, well, forever- at least few months.
Actually, the title has been on my whiteboard for at least one week.
Why the wait? Because I live in Brussels, and I wanted to wait the results of the negotiations.

By chance (conferences, public announces from authorities) and by design (I have been working or studying these two subjects for some time), over the last two weeks I published articles on two main issues: managing of resources, and security.
Conveniently, this week-end comes half-way through the month, and today and tomorrow I would like to share few forward-looking thoughts based on experience and observation.

Conveniently, this week-end comes half-way through the month, and today and tomorrow I would like to share few forward-looking thoughts based on experience and observation.
As it is my tradition for week-end articles, I will try to keep both short, and to inject some “pointers” from my experience, should somebody be curious about the pre-conditions that seeded both the experience and the observation.

Recently NATO announced that a new direction is needed, and today there is a meeting to start discussing the strategy for the next 10 years.
Since the announce, that included discussing opening beyond the limited boundaries (physical and in terms of mission) of post-Cold War peace-keeping, I have been reading the reactions in few newspapers around the world.
Scepticism is the common thread- but it is actually an intellectual posturing to “wait and see”.

About the benefits and potential risks of using cloud-based business-critical applications.
With, of course, a simple and humble proposal on how to both protect your data and maybe create a new revenue stream.

Last week I posted online a series of articles, on various management issues- Crisis, Contract, Confidentiality, service, project.
The title of the series? “Method_” something (search for “Method_” on the front page of this blog).
This article presents a series of considerations- not as a summary, but as a collection of ideas.
