At a time when consumers are asked to tighten their belt across the European Union, it is interesting to review how the XXI technology benefits are spread between industries and consumers.

I lived in Italy, UK, Belgium, and therefore I will limit my case studies to these three countries.

Anyway, thanks to the open internal market, most of the companies are actually multinational companies, whose practices extend beyond individual EU Member States.

But I will stretch my review across three decades, starting from when, in mid-1990s I finally surrendered and got a mobile phone (I waited for the GSM service), and then reviewing also other utilities.

Effective from today, you can have your own personal address on Facebook.

Like: www.facebook.com/robertolofaro

And the new "personal address" of Facebook could allow to do a social experiment.

On how to separate public and private life while being online

Enjoy!

this document is just an introduction to the subject, and therefore it is in a "bullet list" format, with a main issue introducing each bullet list.

it was presented on 2008-09-28 (WGAW Registered) as a proposal for concept for a chapter on "social networking: security issues", as part of a wider book on "network security", but eventually I had to withdraw from consideration my concept.

my original material is published here, with some limited changes, due to the evolution of the subject, and to make this posting as self-contained as possible.

This short article summarizes some ideas and information I discussed or collected while attending few events

At a further stage, something more structure will appear on BusinessFitnessMagazine.Com

For free, as usual :-)
