Description (from Amazon)---
My review: 3.5/5Let's say that this relatively short book was "sponsored" by some articles on news magazines heralding it as a fresh view on the future of production

well, those articles were akin to a "trailer" that is much better than the actual movie

the only redeeming element of the book that makes it worth buying is that, along with pages upon pages of platitudes and repetitions, it outlines the socio-economic history of few large industrial installations in Italy, and gives some interesting anecdotes and commentary from key people within recent Italian history

as for the "Intelligent production" in the title: frankly, the book is a decade or more late, and barely scratches the surface of even what is current, and is quite short on the supposed key factor- i.e. the "philosophy of production in the XXI century"

on that count, the old Womack "The machine" (I am referring to the 1990 edition) was more insightful, and still worth reading http://www.librarything.com/work/220908/111584725

anyway, if you are interested in knowing a little bit more about the recent past and probable future of economic and social development in Italy, it is a quick read and worth "surfing" through some 30-40 pages that could be easily summarized into 3-5 pages, leaving the remaining 100 as a short but interesting book containing leads about the present and future of Italy

search also for "Italy" and "Italia" within my library catalog on LibraryThing for other relevant books
